It’s me, Ri

My Background

I’m an experienced grassroots organizer, a lifelong creative, and a bold design professional eager to work with organizations to help win progressive social justice campaigns and to create art that brings joy.

During the six years I worked as an advocacy organizer, I played a key role in many campaigns. I worked to end Baltimore’s predatory policy regarding water bills and tax sale foreclosures, ban water privatization and pass legislation to create a comprehensive water affordability program in Baltimore.

These wins took bringing together community members, organizations, and leaders; raising awareness through powerful storytelling and earned media strategy, and strong political analysis. I know how to create compelling messaging, and break down convoluted topics in a way
that humanizes issues and those impacted, while also driving people to take action.

My Work

Compelling visual storytelling is crucial to community organizing campaigns. I saw this  firsthand in my work as an organizer. Now, I bring together my commitment to justice, my love of art and design, and my skills as an organizer to create powerful visuals for lasting social change. I am passionate about bringing together ethical storytelling, action-driven messaging, and accessible, impactful design.

I am currently a 2024 candidate for an MA in Graphic Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art. In 2021, I earned an apprenticeship certificate in Graphic Design for Organizing from Social Movement Technologies. I am committed to ongoing learning about design and movement work.

I have done design work for a number of local, statewide, and national nonprofit organizations including;
